What Is a Digital X-Ray?
A digital X-ray is a modern imaging test that uses a small amount of radiation to create
images of bones, joints, the chest, and other areas of the body. Unlike traditional film X-
rays, digital images are available electronically and can be stored, reviewed, and shared
more efficiently when medically necessary.
Digital X-rays may help detect fractures, arthritis, lung infections, fluid buildup, heart
enlargement, and other medical conditions.
Types of Basic Digital X-Rays We May Perform
Depending on your symptoms and medical necessity, our office may perform basic
digital X-ray studies such as:
- Chest X-ray
- Spine X-ray
- Shoulder X-ray
- Arm, wrist, or hand X-ray
- Hip or pelvis X-ray
- Knee X-ray
- Ankle or foot X-ray
- Other basic views when clinically appropriate
Some conditions may require referral to an outside imaging center or hospital for
advanced imaging such as CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, or specialized
radiology studies.
