At Caceres Medical Group, we offer convenient venipuncture services for patients
who need blood samples collected for laboratory testing. Instead of sending every
patient to an outside drawing station, many routine blood samples can be collected
directly in our office and then sent to an outside certified laboratory for processing.
This service is especially helpful for adults and seniors who may have difficulty traveling
to multiple locations, arranging transportation, or waiting at crowded laboratory centers.
Our goal is to make your medical care more convenient, organized, and comfortable.
What Is Venipuncture?
Venipuncture is the process of drawing blood from a vein, usually from the arm, for
laboratory testing. Blood tests help doctors evaluate many important aspects of health,
including blood count, kidney function, liver function, cholesterol, diabetes control,
thyroid function, electrolytes, anemia, infection, inflammation, and medication effects.
The blood sample is collected in our office and then sent to an outside laboratory for
testing. Results are reviewed by your physician and used as part of your medical
evaluation and treatment plan.
Common Laboratory Tests Ordered Tests Ordered
Depending on your medical condition, your doctor may order tests such as:
- Complete blood count — CBC
- Comprehensive metabolic panel — CMP
- Basic metabolic panel — BMP
- Lipid panel / cholesterol testing
- Hemoglobin A1c for diabetes monitoring
- Thyroid testing — TSH and related studies
- Kidney function tests
- Liver function tests
- Urinalysis when appropriate
- Inflammation markers when appropriate
- Medication-related blood monitoring
Testing is ordered based on your symptoms, medical history, diagnosis, medications,
and insurance requirements.
Patient Convenience and Continuity of Care
Having blood drawn in our office allows better coordination between the medical visit,
the physician’s orders, and the laboratory testing process. This can help reduce delays
and improve follow-up.
For many patients, especially seniors, this means fewer trips, less confusion, and a

When results are received, our office reviews them and may contact you with
instructions, medication changes, or follow-up recommendations when needed.
Preparing for Your Blood Test
Some blood tests may require fasting. Others do not. Our staff will let you know if fasting is necessary before your blood drew. Please tell our staff if you are taking blood thinners, have a history of fainting with blood draws, or have difficult veins.
