Arterial and Venous Doppler Ultrasound
Our team performs arterial and venous Doppler studies using advanced ultrasound technology.
Doppler ultrasound measures blood flow patterns in the arteries and veins.
About this service
What Is Arterial and Venous Doppler Ultrasound ?
- Arterial and Venous Doppler studies are non-invasive ultrasound tests that use sound waves to evaluate blood flow in the arteries and veins of the lower extremities (legs). These tests help determine whether blood is flowing normally or if there are areas of blockage or clot formation.
- An Arterial Doppler evaluates circulation in the leg arteries and can help detect peripheral artery disease (PAD), which may cause leg pain while walking, slow-healing wounds, or poor circulation.
- A Venous Doppler examines the leg veins and is commonly used to detect blood clots, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT), as well as chronic venous insufficiency.
- These studies provide important information for diagnosing circulation problems in the legs and guiding appropriate treatment.
What to expect
The test usually takes 30 minutes. A small ultrasound probe is gently moved over the skin with gel to evaluate blood flow. There is no radiation, no needles, and the procedure is painless.
