Our Referral Coordination Process
- Reviewing your symptoms and medical history
- Ordering initial tests before referral when needed

- Sending recent laboratory results, imaging, EKGs, and reports
- Submitting referral or authorization requests when required
- Helping patients understand why the referral is needed
- Reviewing specialist recommendations with the patient
- Updating medications and treatment plans when appropriate
Why Referral Coordination Matters
We help patients understand:
- Why they are being referred
- What condition is being evaluated
- What records should be sent
- What questions to ask the specialist
- What follow-up is needed afterward
- How specialist recommendations fit into the overall plan of care
Medical Referrals and Surgical Referrals
A surgical referral does not always mean surgery will be performed. It means the patient needs a surgeon’s professional evaluation to determine the best treatment option. When surgery is being considered, our office may also help with medical or cardiac clearance when appropriate, including review of risk factors, medications, EKGs, blood tests, and cardiovascular status.
Supporting Patients and Families
We understand that seeing a specialist can sometimes feel stressful. Patients may worry about the diagnosis, insurance approval, transportation, language barriers, or what to expect at the visit. Our team does its best to explain the purpose of the referral clearly and help patients prepare. We encourage patients to bring their medication list, insurance information, recent test results, and any questions they may have. Family members and caregivers are also welcome to participate when appropriate, especially for senior patients or patients with complex medical needs.

At Caceres Medical Group, our commitment is to provide comprehensive care and coordinate with trusted medical and surgical specialists when your condition requires additional expertise.
